It
all began four years ago. CJ and my sister Danielle were coworkers
at the Spring House Hotel, as well as good friends. We were always
together as a group, but it wasn't until the summer of 2000 that
a spark was ignited. Block Island, to most people, is just an
island getaway but to CJ and I it symbolizes much more.
Enhanced by the beautiful island that surrounded us, our summer
was filled with dreamy encounters. Long walks on the beach, sunset
cruises, and romantic dinners were the norm. Oops! I almost forgot
Lively Reggae Nights at the local watering hole, The Yellow Kittens.
Even in light of CJ's hectic schedule, he would still find time
to surprise me by leaving flowers by my door. Could a girl ask
for more?
Sometimes even the smallest of gestures can make you fall in love
with someone - much like the day CJ lasted through a "Nikki
Shop 'til you Drop Marathon". I hold this memory close to
my heart because it takes a lot of energy to shop with me and
I was thrilled to find out that CJ could make it through a day
of shopping without even a word that he may have wanted to leave.
One of the most memorable moments of our relationship was at my
friend Maria's wedding. We had a great time that evening and when
the wedding was over - our night was just beginning. We continued
to hit the town for more dancing. I remember thinking, 'I have
met my soul-mate - my partner in life', and I knew this was the
beginning of something special.
More About
Nicole and CJ
After we marry, our new home will be in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
I will continue to teach health and physical education at two
elementary schools in my hometown of Smithfield. CJ will continue
to work as the Executive Chef of the Spring House Hotel until
the end of the season.
Once the hotel has been closed for the season, CJ will continue
to make culinary magic at one of the sister restaurants in Providence.
After the wedding we will be heading to Newport for a few days
to relax and spend some much needed quality time together. During
Christmas vacation, we will be honeymooning on the beaches of
Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
We thank all of you for being part of this special time in our
lives and for taking the trip out to the island to share with
us in our special day. It is very important to us that you all
could come visit the place where our love began. It makes us feel
good to know we have so much love around us. We'd also like to
thank our families. Their undying love, strength, and support
have allowed CJ and I to build a strong foundation for our future.
A special thanks to my sister Renee for all she has done to make
this day special for both of us, you're the best.
~
